    This course is designed to give students the knowledge and understanding necessary to prepare for the ACE Personal Trainer Certification Exam and become effective personal trainers. This course presents the ACE Integrated Fitness Training™ (ACE IFT™) Model as a comprehensive system for designing individualized programs based on each client’s unique health, fitness, and goals. The information covered by this course and the ACE IFT Model will help students learn how to facilitate rapport, adherence, self-efficacy and behavior change in clients, as well as design programs that help clients to improve posture, movement, flexibility, balance, core function, cardiorespiratory fitness, and muscular endurance and strength.

    This course is designed to give students the knowledge and understanding necessary to prepare the ACSM Certified Personal Trainer (CPT) Certification Exam. ACSM CPTs work with apparently healthy individuals and those with health challenges who are able to exercise independently to enhance quality of life, improve health-related physical fitness and performance, manage health risk, and promote lasting, healthy behavior changes. The CPT is certified to conduct basic pre-participation health screening assessments, submaximal cardiovascular exercise tests, and muscular strength/endurance, flexibility and body composition tests.

    This course presents details on the science behind super foods, revealing how food can increase your overall performance. By completing this course, you will learn how to shop for the best foods; understand which foods to avoid; the science behind organic foods; and the best super foods to buy on a budget. Based on the latest research, this course covers the legitimate effect food has on performance, colds/flus, chronic disease, memory loss, cancer, and a lot more as well as the antibacterial and home remedy properties of super foods. In addition, the latest food and health trends are covered, helping you to sort fact from fiction.

    This 115 hour course provides an overview of the anatomical structures and physiology of the human body. The course discusses each body system in terms of the major anatomical structures and functions and explains how each system participates in homeostasis of the body. In addition, the course discusses selected major pathologies, including disease definitions and causes, signs and symptoms, diagnostic procedures, and possible treatments. Finally, the course discusses common issues and changes that occur in each body system throughout the lifespan.

    Bioterrorism

    This course presents information on the threat that terror organizations may use biological agents to kill people and cause chaos. Biological warfare is regulated and denounced by world governments. Terrorists are increasingly likely to use biological agents for the fear it creates in others. Companies, families, and individuals can prepare by learning about bioterrorism, preparing for attacks, and learning how to mitigate the effects of an attack. This course gives learners practical information they can apply at work and at home.

    CPR Refresher

    Many accidents and injuries can occur in the workplace. Having a workplace first-aid program that includes training workers on how to give Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) minimizes these risks by giving the injured or sick person some basic treatment until professional emergency medical service personnel can arrive. This course IS NOT designed to be a primary or introductory lesson on CPR; rather it is intended to provide refresher training to workers who have already attended a certified CPR training program.

    This course teaches how to develop an exercise prescription in relation to health implications for normal/special populations related to age, medical condition, and fitness level. Topics include cardiac conditions, diabetes, physical disabilities, HIV and AIDS, asthma, sensory impairments, pregnancy, and program design for children to senior populations. This course is designed as a research-based class with emphasis on designing a step-by-step process to creating individualized exercise programs.

    In this course, students will gain an understanding of the role of exercise in improving health, fitness, function and quality of life in older adults. The current recommendations for cardiovascular, flexibility, resistance, mobility and balance training will be discussed. An emphasis will be given to common health conditions such as cardiovascular disease, diabetes, arthritis and frailty.

    This course teaches students how to establish exercise programs/prescriptions, exercise-related goals and objectives, appropriate training modifications, and program evaluation strategies. Additional topics include specifically designing exercise programs based on ACSM guidelines implementing resistance/weight training techniques, flexibility/stretching training, and cardiovascular/aerobic/weight loss plans incorporating the use of walking, running, and commercial cardiovascular machine (treadmills, elliptical trainers, stationary/recumbent bikes, etc.) programs.

    This course will look at the changing food environment in the U.S., including Mrs. Obama’s “Let’s Move” campaign, changes in the school lunch program, and examines school gardens as well as the organic and green movement. It will discuss the three steps to successful nutrition education and ideas for incorporating nutrition and fitness education into the school day. It will ask participants to think creatively about the best ways to reach kids through positive food, fitness and health behaviors!
